10:10 is about committing to cut our carbon emissions by 10% in 2010. It’s based on the idea that everyone can cut their carbon emissions by 10% - individuals, families, schools and universities, small shops and global brands, film stars and politicians. Carbon emissions, particularly greenhouse gas emissions are the cause of global warming, and are released when fuels are burned in vehicles, homes, power stations and factories. For more on emissions and global warming, see the Met Office's quick guide to climate change. Meantime, if you can’t walk the talk, at least jump on the bus…
Not owning a car is a great way to stay fit, save money, and avoid loads of hassle. This is a blog with thoughts, photos, ideas and links about carfree life: walking, active travel, public transport, places and spaces - things that matter to everyone, but even more when you don’t own a car. Photos are by me unless credited. Forthcoming: book on carfree life. Meantime, get in touch via email at carfreelifeoutsidethebox@gmail.com or Twitter @carfreebrighton
