Songs about walking

proclaimers wikipedia
Watching The Proclaimers gig at Folkestone’s Leas Cliff Hall a couple of weeks back, they rocked the crowd with “I’m Gonna Be.” You know the one:
But I would walk 500 miles
And I would walk 500 more
Just to be the man who walked 1000 miles
To fall down at your door

Which got me thinking about songs that celebrate (?) walking. Why are there so few – especially rock and roll? Maybe we need a list of great songs that celebrate walking…(photo: Wikipedia)

Quote of the Week

So says this 5 x 4.6 meter metal sign in Folkestone made by Hamish Fulton, a Kent-based artist who mapped the 31 water-related walks he made from coast to coast, river to river and coast to river, across the British Isles and western Europe over his 40-year career. (Bottom picture shows members of, I think, Sick Mick’s Blues Band, who’d just finished playing a set in front of the sign).
