Top Tips for Urban Walkers: #1 Walk away from the kerb to avoid pollution

A new series: words to the wise for those who prefer to get around town on foot.

Kicking off with a health tip from a Government advisor for those pedestrians who are keen to minimise their ingestions of noxious traffic emissions: walk closer to the buildings, because air pollution levels here can be one-third the level of those encountered next to the kerb (Evening Standard, 8 May 2014).
