When you buy a rail ticket in Italy, you sometimes get one that looks like this:



And when you flip it over, the back shows a comparison of the carbon footprint of a journey by train, by car and by plane, like this:



It would be even better if it could show you the carbon footprint of the actual journey you’re taking by train, compared with a car or plane. What’s the Italian for algorithm?
