Life Outside the Box Joins Facebook

facebook I’ve reluctantly bowed to the inevitable, and joined Facebook. Not all that personal stuff – imho that should stay personal. But I’ve set up a Facebook page for Life Outside the Box - something you can do without having to share your pain, grief, joy and current status.

Generally, I prefer not to be behind a screen, whether it’s a windscreen or a pc. And there are plenty of other reasons to not like Facebook – as Tom Hodgkinson set out in 2008. Not to mention this. Note that, when Hodgkinson wrote his piece about the people who backed Facebook, it had 59 million users. Now it has over 1 billion.

Like it or not, it’s hard to ignore the fact that 1 in 7 of the global population is now on Facebook: someone said to me “If you’re not on Facebook you don’t exist.” Someone else called it a necessary evil. So I’ve succumbed. It’s early days yet, so there’s not much on the page. And this blog will continue to be the main channel. But if it’s your thing, you can now like Life Outside the Box at Facebook.
