Not owning a car is a great way to stay fit, save money, and avoid loads of hassle. This is a blog with thoughts, photos, ideas and links about carfree life: walking, active travel, public transport, places and spaces - things that matter to everyone, but even more when you don’t own a car. Photos are by me unless credited. Forthcoming: book on carfree life. Meantime, get in touch via email at carfreelifeoutsidethebox@gmail.com or Twitter @carfreebrighton

Carfree: David Mitchell (again)
Carfree comedian David Mitchell, previously featured on this blog, wrote a recent Guardian column under the header ”I love not driving, and instinct tells me I'm a safer man for it.” Almost as good as David Mitchell’s article (and a lot shorter) was a comment from 789102, “If you live in a city, with public transportation and/or reasonably close distances between things, a car is a giant expensive baby you have to babysit, pay for, constantly find parking for, maintain etc. In such circumstances, it’s NOT having a car that’s freedom.”
