Seen on a walk: Jubilee, Jubelation, and Jubeindifference

P6034351 crop res So the Diamond Jubilee Weekend comes to an end, washed out by traditional Bank Holiday rain. What was missing? The Silver Jubilee in 1977, marked by the high water mark of punk and protest, culminated in the Sex Pistols’ version of God Save The Queen. Jamie Reid’s graphics captured something of the rage of the time.

This time round, despite the economic crisis, things seem oddly quiet. Here’s the only bit of anti-Jubilee sentiment that I’ve spotted – hardly inspired! No wonder it was hidden away in the tunnel leading up from the seafront to West Street.
