Being carfree means saving money, staying fit and avoiding loads of hassle. Here are thoughts, photos, experiences, and ideas about living carfree: walking, active travel, public transport, places and spaces, things you see and do when you’re carfree. Plus occasional musings on behavioural economics – which I teach at the University of Brighton. All photos are by me unless credited. You're welcome to be a member, or share via social media. Carfree: Elaine King
Elaine sent me this message. Enough said….
”I gave up my car fully two months ago. I had an old car which was coming to the end of its life, I thought could i do without one. I cycle to work which is 12 miles there and back. In the winter it is cold, but I have got used to it - I have lost weight, feel fitter and love the out-doors, and I save around £50 a week. I thought it would be hard at first getting shopping and big items but you soon get used to it. My family and friends think I am mad and keep saying to me when am I going to get a car. I say I am not!!”
