Not owning a car is a great way to stay fit, save money, and avoid loads of hassle. This is a blog with thoughts, photos, ideas and links about carfree life: walking, active travel, public transport, places and spaces - things that matter to everyone, but even more when you don’t own a car. Photos are by me unless credited. Forthcoming: book on carfree life. Meantime, get in touch via email at carfreelifeoutsidethebox@gmail.com or Twitter @carfreebrighton

Seascapes and Serendipity
Working from home demands discipline, focus and commitment. But sometimes, being able to time-shift the workload means you can look out of the window, see the sunshine..…and down tools for a while. Which was how, taking a walk along Hove prom, I bumped into painter Andrew Roberts, taking advantage of a spookily warm and sunny January day to capture the seafront scene: here’s a link to some of Andrew’s Brighton paintings, and we look forward to seeing Andrew’s Hove works in the gallery. It’s odd that more artists don’t take paint the local seascapes – where are our contemporary Turners and Constables?
