Thanks to Stephen Andrews for sending me this, picked up by the Environmental Transport Association - a Japanese company’s hydroponic vegetable “garden” that fits in a car parking space. Better still, instead of spending £50k on this box of tricks, why not follow the suggestion in the article - if you’re lucky enough to have a front garden, grow a few edibles in there. And don’t ever think about turning it into a space to put a car – for reasons why not, see this report from the Royal Horticultural Society.
Not owning a car is a great way to stay fit, save money, and avoid loads of hassle. This is a blog with thoughts, photos, ideas and links about carfree life: walking, active travel, public transport, places and spaces - things that matter to everyone, but even more when you don’t own a car. Photos are by me unless credited. Forthcoming: book on carfree life. Meantime, get in touch via email at carfreelifeoutsidethebox@gmail.com or Twitter @carfreebrighton
