Seedy Sunday, the community seed swap and biodiversity event at Brighton’s Corn Exchange broke all previous records, with more than 3,000 people braving yesterday’s drizzle (ok rain). As well as all that seed swapping, there was a programme of talks and the recording of an episode of Radio 4’s Gardner’s Question Time (“GQT” to the afficionadoes) – this episode will be broadcast on Friday 15th and Sunday 17th February. “Ethnobotanist, BBC TV science presenter, obsessive foodie & urban farming geek” (his words) James Wong gave a talk about easy exotic fruit and veg. to grow in the UK and showed pictures of his front garden in Croydon. Happy to report that Mr Wong travelled to Brighton by train – living in Croydon, 40 minutes away on the main line, why wouldn’t you? But as we know, logical choice and travel decisions frequently don’t go together.
